Does XX2i sound familiar to you? That’s because I reviewed the XX2i USA1 awhile back. XX2i recently came out with a new line of causal sunglasses, the Brazil1, so I wanted to give them a shot.

To refresh your memory, I loved that the USA1 was fairly comfortable and that the quality seemed great for the cost of the glasses. The Brazil1 sunglasses are different because they’re meant to be worn as casual sunglasses. That is, they are not for running specifically like the USA1.

What I noticed right out of the box is that the Brazil1 comes with many of the accessories that accompany the regular running sunglasses. This includes a nice case, a soft, microfiber pouch, croakies and a set of stickers.

Another benefit is in the lenses themselves. These are nice lenses, and they are also polarized. That’s awesome for those who spend a lot of time outdoors (it reduces glare), like myself. Prescription sunglasses are also available from XX2i. For people like my husband who hate contacts, but are blind without glasses, that’s also wonderful!

Other things I liked about the XX2i Brazil1:

  • The classic silhouette. It’s still on-trend, but a simple style that will be stylish for years to come.
  • There are also a variety of colors available (
  • Unisex design means that, were he wearing contacts, my husband could wear these, too.
  • Lightweight design means they don’t weight my purse down.
  • 365 day return policy: I love that XX2i stands by their products, especially because sunglasses are such a personal purchase.
  • Another example of their commitment to their products is their outstanding warranty. If you break or scratch them, send them back for a replacement. No questions asked (there is a small shipping/handling fee).

img_0169Despite all the positives, there were a few aspects that I was less than enthused about. While on their website, these are listed under women’s specific glasses, these are not made specifically for women. They’re also listed as a men’s style. Like the XX2i glasses before these, the glasses were very large on me because they are unisex and I am a small woman. They fit my husband, but don’t fit me half as well. I would totally recommend them for guys, but the style is very large on me, personally. The frame material also felt inexpensive, and I don’t know if I would pay full price because of that. However, it could be that matte black color has an odd texture/feel.

img_0162Overall, these glasses would make a good gift for a special guy in your life that is constantly outdoors. Today, XX2i has given us a great discount code, bringing the cost for these to $39.99 when you buy them at The code is BRAZIL1, and it will get you 60% off through midnight Tuesday, November 22. I do think that you get a solid pair of glasses for that cost. The value is definitely there for $40. Who says all the best deals come after Thanksgiving?

I have been wanting to test out a pair of running sunglasses ever since last winter, when I started noticing my vision would get blurrier with the winter winds. When I found out I would be able to test and review the XX2i USA1 Sunglasses, I was super excited, and when I received the package in the mail just before Christmas, it was as if Santa himself delivered them on my doorstep.

I opened the box to find a durable, zip-close, hard shell sunglasses case. All of the goodies that come with each pair of  XX2i sunglasses were inside, including:

  • A pair of sunglasses with polarized lenses
  • A pair of black XX2i croakies
  • A soft pouch
  • XX2i decals
  • A kit with two sets of interchangeable parts

As soon as I had the opportunity, I started running with these babies. So far, they have been on a couple of 6+ mile runs, and a few shorter runs (about 3 miles each). Here’s what I loved about them:

  • No bounce! You would expect sunglasses to bounce around (or be too tight in an attempt to achieve no bouncing), but these were just right.
  • Adjustable nose-piece. This was handy as I was experimenting where I wanted them to be positioned on my face.
  • Polarized lenses. There was no glare, and the lenses were not too dark, so it was easy to see with them on.
  • No foggy-ness. When you’re sweating, this is important. Curious to see how they would hold up in Houston’s humidity, but so far, so good!
  • Interchangeability. You can order multiple lenses, if you like to change them out, and you’re also able to change the tips on the back and nose piece for a little variety.
  • 365 day return policy. This speaks volumes about the company’s dedication to making sure you love your purchase.

With all the great thing about these glasses, there were a couple of cons/things I wasn’t crazy about related to the overall fit.

  • While they didn’t bounce, they were big on me.
  • The tips of the glasses also hit me in a weird spot because my head is smaller. There are ridges in these tips, which rubbed the backs of my ears, leaving my ears a little sore on the longer runs.

All in all, these are a solid buy at just $59.99, and they are available in a wide variety of colors (the black and tortoise shell would be great options if you would like to wear them when you’re not running)! You can also purchase a pack with multiple lens options for just $99.99. AND with the code XX2iRocks you can save a whopping 50% on your order at! These sunglasses offer a great value for the price at full price, so to get them at half price is a steal.

What do you look for in a great pair of running sunglasses?

Cheers to a great deal!
